Maarten Dedroog (°1987, Bree, België)
“The aim of my paintings is to search the beauty in objects and places where people run carelessly along by. As an artist, I seize aspects from daily life and place those in the spotlights. My paintings are a criticism on the emptiness and meaninglessness of the forgotten, no longer used architecture (Non-places). Generally there are tracks of human presence by means of shade parties. When making my paintings, I determinedly search for interesting compositions and contrasts.
What I exactly represent is not always clear for the viewer. It is thus to the Viewer of my work to form its own vision concerning the picture.”
